Fire with Fire

Monorail in Sydney. Would be nice if it was placed a bit higher.

Opening Scene:

Cue dark and atmospheric music.

Other songs that could work: Mozart — Requiem in D Minor, NCT U — 7th Sense, Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL — Red Capes Are Coming. The more massive the production the better.

Drone camera 1 with several shots of the city. Early morning. Camera moves in towards a monorail and follows the track for a few seconds as it rises up an over-looking building.

Music distorts and switches to a nostalgic 90s song.

Medium makes it difficult to embed other stuff…Big YouTube block for now. T_T

On the roof is a man crudely dressed in all black. Close shot of his masked face. He is smoking a cigar. Close shot of his hand. He’s holding a half-eaten Clif Bar. Close shot of his waist. He’s wearing four fanny packs all around, a makeshift utility belt.

During above camera direction, the strange man with a deep, manly voice does his monologue:

“You’ve got to fight fire with fire. This corrupt city. Its prejudice and rancor. I’ll purge it with my power. My justice will rain. And, they will know fear.”

When his body reaches midway toward the monorail, crosscut to a man sitting in the train, but most of his appearance is covered by the newspaper he’s reading. Capture him sitting with several people on the bench. A punk girl with purple hair on the left is reading a book titled The Dangers of Pseudo-Feminism. The middle-aged man on the right is falling asleep, showing his bald spot as he bobs his head.

The man in the middle closes his newspaper briefly. Immediate cut to the screen of his phone to avoid showing the face of the man. The song that is currently playing is on his smartphone. Camera focuses slowly on the man in the middle and pans up to show his dress. The man is sharply dressed in European cut gray suit, wing-tipped brown oxford, and silver Fossil Haywood watch.

Pan out to the three sitting on the bench. The face of the man in the middle twitches in irritation, and the person bobbing his head wakes up. Someone is yelling. A baby is crying. The irritated man is handsome but appears to have a bitter temperament. He has a classic corporate side-part and is wearing ear phones.

“Get out of this country you Muslim! All ya’ good-for-nothin’ terrorists!”

Camera cut to a stubby man yelling at a woman sitting alone. She’s wearing a hijab. The baby in her arms is crying because of the angry man.

Camera cut from the perspective of the sitting man. Camera leans forward and turns toward the situation in the train. He does his monologue:

“You don’t fight fire with fire. You let it burn until there’s nothing to left to burn.”

Back to same camera cut showing the three. He opens up his newspaper again like nothing happened, covering his torso save for the top of his head.

Camera cut showing the entire car of the train. The yelling man and hijab-wearing woman is in view. Slight side-profile of man reading newspaper is visible. On the other end of the car, a man dressed in all black suddenly drops through a portal from the roof of the train. People gasp as he drops down on one knee, which covers a portion of his cape. The strange man tries to stand up coolly but awkwardly loses his balance as a part of his heel steps on his cape by accident. He grabs his stomach to feign that that was the reason why he faltered. He walks pass the man in the suit and confronts the angry man. The man reading the newspaper is oblivious to the whole situation.

Camera cuts to the face of whoever is speaking.

Strange man: “Offender of justice. Stop what it is you are doing right now.”

Angry man: “Who the fuck are you? Fucking freaks like you is the reason why this country’s going to shit.”

Strange man: “You leave me no choice.”

Angry man: “What are you gonna do? I’ll beat your ass with one fist.”

The strange man starts stripping.

Angry man: “THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!”

Leaving his mask alone, he continues to strip until he is wearing a bright-red thong. He steps closer to the angry man.He takes a few step backwards.

Close cut to the angry man’s eyes. It is now filled with fear.

Camera cut from the perspective of the handsome man. He puts down his newspaper to check the time on his phone. Camera zooms out a bit to show his face turning left to see a red-thong wearing, masked man terrorizing the man who was previously yelling. Close cut to the handsome man’s face. His eyes are simply blinking, trying to erase what he is seeing. But, he can’t take his eyes away. Zoom in to the strange man’s butt as he walks to stand side by side to the woman wearing a hijab.

Camera cut to the woman and the strange man.

Strange man: “You’re safe now. Justice is here.”

Camera cut to the woman’s face and upper torso. She is repulsed backwards, almost regretting her decision to immigrate to the United States. Camera cut to perspective of the strange man. He is looking directly at the man running to a different car of the train.

Abrupt camera cut to show the inside of the train from the side to reveal the strange man’s profile. Time is moving in slow motion. Music is silenced. A small portal with purple fringes of light bursts open as the foot of a woman slowly protrudes towards the face of the strange man.

Normal time again. Quick triple camera cut of the man being kicked in the face from several different perspectives. He is flown backwards. Camera cut to an extremely pretty woman dressed in joggers and a baseball cap. She is furious.

Camera cut to show all of the phones in the car short-circuiting upon her entrance.

Angry woman: “Jason, how many times do I have to tell you? You fucking exhibitionist.”

Jason grabs his face as he stands up.

Jason: “But, Lucy! I’m a hero!”

His voice is no longer deep and is normal.

Camera cut to her white Adidas moving towards the fallen hero. Cut showing her leg on Jason’s chest.

Camera cut to Lucy. She sighs. Her eyes are extremely blue even under the shadow of her cap. The color so luminescent, it almost seems to be moving.

Camera cut to the handsome man. His mouth is open and still.

Cut to the two. They disappear, replacing the air with vertical lines of neon colors. They are gone. Hold the frame staring at empty space for a few more seconds.

Camera is a fixed to a high point, showing the train go its way on the monorail. The bustling city below is also shown. The man does his monologue:

“I — I…um. What?”
